Mesotherapy
for Hair
Mesotherapy – is injection of any drug or solution into mesoderm layer of skin. Hair mesotherapy is the technique of injecting rich nutrients in terms of nutrient diversity and drugs into the mesoderm layer of hair scalp.
How it works?
The meso – solution that is injected in mesoderm layer of skin where the hair root is lying. This technique acts on the epidermis, dermal connective tissue, circulation, and the immune and neurosensory systems. It provides nutrition to hair roots and help them to grow stronger. The role of mesotherapy to hair is like role of fertilizer to plants.
It can not create new roots or hair seeds but it definitely helps the existing roots to grow better and thicker and can stimulate a weak root to start growing a new plant. It works better when combined with other methods of hair root stimulation like LLLT and PRP. It can help in improving certain forms of Alopecia like Telogen Effluvium, Androgenetic Alopecia, Alopecia Areata, and Stress Alopecia. The objective of this treatment is to restore and increase micro-circulation in the scalp, provide nutrients, slow down the shrinking of follicles, and stimulate hair growth and make them thick, bulky, strong, long and healthy.
Meso Solutions
The materials used for mesotherapy can be classified as – principal/major ingredients (that are backed by scientific evidence) and complementary/ minor ingredients (that claim to improve the existing condition). An effective cocktail contains at least two to three principal agents. There is a lack of scientific research to establish which cocktail and application scheme are the most effective in hair mesotherapy to aid hair growth. There are different vitamins, enzymes, hormones, pharmaceuticals, homeopathic agents, natural plant extracts and bioactive substances used in these injections.
Efficacy and improvement in hair depends a lot upon the meso-solution that one is using. It varies from clinic to clinic as every doctor has preference to different meso-solutions depending upon their expertise and experience.
How it is performed
Meso – solution is injected in scalp either through inections, mesogun or through dermaroller. Dermaroller is a device that creates multiple tiny holes and microchannels in the skin surface. And meso- solution penetrates the skin through these microchannels.
The role of mesotherapy in improving hair growth is still debatable with lack of any conclusive studies and evidence. We in our clinical practice do recommend patients with hair fall to undergo meso therapy treatments.
Patients are called one in two weeks for 6-8 sessions. It works better when combined with other methods of hair root stimulation like LLLT and PRP.
